    Class Description
  • Yoga Exploration’s Creative Yoga classes plant the seed for budding yogis as they begin their journey of growth in the Yoga Exploration program.  Creative Yoga is designed as an interactive, play-time yoga class with a goal to introduce stretching, wellness and relaxation techniques to preschool aged children. Our ‘Dance to Learn!’® Curriculum has been designed with the whole child in mind and has been created around a child’s cognitive, language, social and motor development to form the 5 Methods of Performance Arts™. Each month, Yoga Exploration classes are designed around a new monthly theme to keep the classes fun and exciting as part of our ‘Dance to Discover!™ method. Each week within that monthly theme, we focus on one of 14 different Yoga Concepts or Elements to explore ensuring that classes are always evolving, educational and entertaining! The class structure remains the same with classes beginning with Introducing the Concept! We perform this part of class in our Learning Circle where each child has the chance to interact and engage with the Yoga Educator and their peers. This is where we incorporate a bold and bright visual aid that the students can quickly relate to and identify with. We discuss the visual aid and discuss how we can apply it to our bodies through movement.  After introducing our weekly concept, we continue to warm up and stretch on the floor and slowly move to standing. Once warmed up, we focus on Developing Skills. We combine multiple stretches and movements together in a progression that tells a complete, short Yoga story. Stretches and Poses are taught progressively to ensure mastery and proper execution as part of our ‘Dance to Move!’™ method. We will also include fun props and costume  pieces to increase the sensory experience during this part of class. The ‘Dance to Accept!’™ method was created to help children learn to accept the unique talents and differences of their peers. To encourage teamwork and peer relations, many of the exercises and activities include partnered yoga activities. Class ends where the child is allowed to let their creativity and imagination take over as part of the ‘Dance to Express!’™ and ‘Dance to Create!’™ methods focused on self-expression and creative thinking. They are challenged to add yoga stretches poses together to make their own short yoga story! The Creative Yoga Class includes The Dance Me a Story™ Program. This literacy readiness program includes reading a new children’s book each month. Children are then taken on an adventure with their Yoga Educator reenacting the characters, plot, conflict and resolution with movement. Children are nurtured by their instructor through a positive “Yes!” environment, and the small class size ensures the personal attention needed at this stage of learning. Parents are able to observe what their child has learned through several free observations and community performances throughout the session! Creative Yoga classes include participation in the Dance Exploration, LLC ‘Dance to Learn!’® at Home with Me™ Program!
